Before James or Celie could bicker anymore the bell on the door rung again. This time I was fully aware.
I knew the man that walked through the door, his black hair pushed back, white shirt spread over the length of his chest bulk with muscle. I'd met him once in another life, taller than Celie, and even James, stubble littering his jawline and upper lip.
I knew him instantly, although I'd never met him- I knew him. He was perfect in every definition of the word and instantly I felt the need to rise from my chair and jump carelessly into his arms like a child.
His eyes found mine instantly- familiar eyes dark like midnight surrounded by skin like sand- rough and fighting to stay youthful.
He took a staggering step, never dropping his eyes from mine and for a moment he was still like a lion in hunt, not even his chest moved to take a breath. And then like a lion he inhaled sharply and abruptly crossed the floor in a few short strides. Our eyes never moved from each other.
"Kaden-" James began as he fearfully followed Kadens glace to me, "She's not a rogue, shes-"
He cut him off with a word spoken softly and from deep within his throat, "Mate."
