Passed away at his home on Clapham Common, London, England.
Today, 12th September 2015, actors from the Sherlock Holmes series he starred in, and admirers of his work, gathered on Clapham Common in the sunshine to remember him and to donate a memorial bench which was placed near the café he frequented and his memorial tree.
