"Everyone lives for a purpose. Everyone lives for the chance to make a difference. I've always wondered what my purpose was."

The country of Hogwarts consists of 4 districts, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Gryffindor. They are all ruled by the Capitol with little free will given to them. After the Dark Days ended, the leaders of Hogwarts decided to make sure that anything close to the Dark Days would never occur again. Because of this, they created the Hogwarts Games, where 3 males and 3 females between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district would be sent to the Capitol for special treatment and then to a special arena where they will fight to the death until only one participant is left. 

In the district of Gryffindor lives a 16 year old named Hermione Granger. She is the leader and provider of her household, hunts illegally and hates the Capitol more than anyone can. What will happen when she volunteers for her 12 year old sister, Liz? How will this change her? How will being in the games affect her previous relationships and the relationships of the people that she meets? Find out in the first book of the Hogwarts Games Trilogy, The Hogwarts Games: Defiance.
