She just wants to get through her senior year in one piece and then get the hell out of that town. Away from the cliques at school, away from the mountains of pointless homework and especially away from her dysfunctional family.
Zachary Grey on the other had was the definition of a bad boy who just wanted fun. He unlike Katie was not terrified of school and had a perfect family. He managed to maintain his bad boy persona while still being every body's golden boy.
