The two have been friends since Shane went out with Hannah, Scarlet's best friend. Now in high school the two struggle with the meaning of friendship and the things that entails. Scarlet is looking into who she really is and what she stands for. Shane is looking at what he has done and what he causes and realizes what he is. Two lucky people in two very different places.
