In a world with Mages and strange creatures one village girl named Lynn must prove herself by traveling the land using her newly learned magic for the good of all. For two cycles a Mage will walk, work, and help others. For those two cycles they are bound by ancient rules set down because of a Mage War fought hundreds of years before. In that war magic was used to nearly destroy the lands and killed hundreds of thousands of people. In hopes of keeping Mages from seeing nonmages as tools to be used the Long Walk was created. Lynn is now a Walking Mage in a world where politics and strict social order is the rule of the day. She must navigate all this and try not to mess up so badly that she is striped of her new found magic.

May the Dragons ever guard you... Two thousand years ago, Tyor, Callagan, and the Dragons were one. But now the Dragons are gone, and though Callagan honors their memory, Tyor is divided. Who really saved them from the Seldrian, the Dragons monstrous adversaries? Some say the Dragons defended them, and gave them a great gift. But others say the Dragons cursed their rulers. For who would want a King or Queen with Dragon blood flowing through their veins? All this Merlara is forced to confront when she assumes the throne. Her adversaries pretend to be loyal, but she knows they're only waiting for an opportunity to rebel. How long before the Seldrian declare war once again? and what will she do once they have? For her bloodline is considered a threat by many, and they only need a leader to eradicate it. And the Dragons cannot save her.
