1990, the year The Stone Roses dominate the world and also the year that six friends, who have all grown up together on a scummy council estate in Manchester, finally get to leave their schools and begin the rest of their lives as free-spirited adolescents.
A bad-mouthed lad and his junkie older brother, a pretty-boy who plays the guitar, a self-confessed sex addict, a lost soul and a girly-girl: at the age of eighteen, their future is in their palms.
But as realisation that things might not be as good as first seems soon hits them hard, their friendships are tested to the limit in a series of laughs, tears, betrayal and bad decisions.
And would there be any place better than Spike Island for it all to happen?
