Hello, my name is Tyler Harris, and this I is my account of my experiences in basic training and battle in Afghanistan while serving in the U.S. Army, including finding friendship, love, and much, much more.

Note: This is not my real name, I have not been in the service, but I will one day. I get most of this story from my brother, my mother, and several other family members who have served. I also get inspiration from my JROTC battalion Senior Army Instructor, Major Robert Griffiths, and my battalion Army Instructor, First Sergeant Alan Bakes, both retired. Thank you all for your service and giving me inspiration.

The basic training portion of this book is divided into eight chapters, one for each week of training. I don't know how I'm going to write the post-basic part.

Not The Last {Rough Draft}
~Thank you for the continued love for this series! I was 13 when I began this book, and am now taking the time to go back to completely rewrite it, and maybe just publish someday~ I'm 15 and my name is Astrix. Let's start with that. That seems like an easy thing to start with. Now, let me add in some other details. I live in a zombie apocalypse. Yeah, that's about as enjoyable as I can make it seem. Now let me add in something else. I'm wanted by the CIA for reasons that I don't even know, but I guess I will find out eventually. Maybe somewhere within my story I will figure it out. I'm well known as The Bad Ass for reasons that are kind of obvious once you meet me. Maybe that's why they're after me? Because I'm a Bad Ass? Nope, I doubt that. Well anyways, the answers are out there. Along with the answers to my past. The answer to life even. Maybe it really is 42 but I don't think it would hurt to start looking at one. So here we go. Finding Happiness (Book 1 comes before and ties in to You Series)
The second I saw her my skin heated and heart skipped a beat. I knew I had to know who she was. I knew I just needed to be near her. After my horrible marriage I knew getting involved with anyone was the worst thing I could possibly do. The problem was the girl of my dreams was standing right in-front of me partially guarded. She knew my family and knew about my past which should scare me away, but it doesn't it only draws me closer to her. My brother is getting married, I'm the best man, she's the maid of honor. If I screw this up even a little bit everyone is going to have my ass. The second I saw him my mouth went dry. His sculpted arms in that t-shirt covered in ink, my body was telling me to run the other way, to not get involved with this gorgeous dangerous man with a military past. Those gorgeous blue eyes however pulled me in and saw right through every part of me. He's my best friends soon to be brother-in-law, and I have legal custody of a child that isn't mine. Nobody wants to be with a single mom these days, what makes him any different?Complete
Abrupt Splurge
New place, new school, new friends, new mood. The boy, name Ethan, shifted Texas for some casual incidents. At the end of 4 weeks, he disappeared. And the finding journey begins. His best friends proofs that they are just kids but courageous. From another country to another country, the survive, that fascination for their friend, brought a new fondling. The survive for his friend, but it turns into his country. They saved their country. How does people help to other people, the bonding, the believe, the love, all the things you can find in this book. Afterall, the one side love affection, the end and the new life begins. I never wrote book, I have no experience. But my willpower helped me most. I couldn't have shown some action and emotional scene very well, so I apologise for it. I hope you'll enjoy your reading. "Do you have to leave?" I say through tears. "I promise I'll be home before you know it." That's a lie. It'll feel longer than what it actually is. And it will all feel like hell. "I'll be lost and...and...alone without you, Matt" I sob even harder. "Don't say that. You'll have Aunt Kathy and Jo. Trust me when I say this: they know exactly what they're doing. They've been through plenty of these before." I nod, not trusting my voice, afraid I'll break down again. His hand comes to my cheek as he wipes a tear that's falling. His arms then indulge me in a huge hug, his familiar cologne invading my nostrils. "STARKS! We're boarding!" I flinch at the fact that its time to let him go. He kisses the top of my head, "I love you." He whispers in my ear. "I love you too." I respond weakly. "I love you most." And with a final, hard kiss, he walks away from me. My chest hurt as an empty feeling rushed over me. My breathing picked up as I clutched my chest. It was painful but yet, oh so familiar. Black dots swam in my vision as my heart beat wildly. I closed my eyes and tried to calm my breathing. Panic attacks weren't uncommon for me. I'd had them ever since the accident. I felt the tears roll down my cheeks as my face heated. It was getting harder to breath. It felt like the walls were closing in around me, and the oxygen was being sucked out of the room. "Iris! Calm down. You have to calm down," a voice sounded from a distance. It was too late; I was in full panic attack mode. My body shook as I sobbed in gasps. I felt hands on my arms but barely. I was too far-gone. The black dots increased as my breathing did. I'd done this too many times to know what was coming next. I hyperventilated until I passed out completely. ~ After a traumatic event that led to her family's death, Iris moves with her Aunt to California to try and start over. Iris Morgan grew up a military brat. With her dad in the Marines, she grew accustomed to that lifestyle, until she was ripped from it. Now she has to be the new girl all over again. Only this time, she has to keep her C-PTSD in check as well as survive a high school full of teen celebrites, cute boys, and around the clock drama. All Iris has to do is survive two years until graduation, but what comes after graduation may prove to be more difficult than high school itself.Complete
