Hello, my name is Tyler Harris, and this I is my account of my experiences in basic training and battle in Afghanistan while serving in the U.S. Army, including finding friendship, love, and much, much more.

Note: This is not my real name, I have not been in the service, but I will one day. I get most of this story from my brother, my mother, and several other family members who have served. I also get inspiration from my JROTC battalion Senior Army Instructor, Major Robert Griffiths, and my battalion Army Instructor, First Sergeant Alan Bakes, both retired. Thank you all for your service and giving me inspiration.

The basic training portion of this book is divided into eight chapters, one for each week of training. I don't know how I'm going to write the post-basic part.

Storm Of Pain
Have you ever seen your life flash before your eyes? Seen all the good memories with you and your friends and loved ones just pass in a few split seconds before the moment comes where you know you'll die? Where you determine if it's going to be a quick or slow and painful death? Well then, same. I risk my life on a daily bases saving others, strangers, kids, families, anyone my team and I can help ranging from terrorist attacks to bombs to pretty much anything. The training that I received a few years ago allows me to do that, it allows me to be the best person that I can be, if I could go back to the day I joined the military I wouldn't change a single thing; the only thing I would've changed in my journey is to have looked after her better. Not The Last {Rough Draft}
~Thank you for the continued love for this series! I was 13 when I began this book, and am now taking the time to go back to completely rewrite it, and maybe just publish someday~ I'm 15 and my name is Astrix. Let's start with that. That seems like an easy thing to start with. Now, let me add in some other details. I live in a zombie apocalypse. Yeah, that's about as enjoyable as I can make it seem. Now let me add in something else. I'm wanted by the CIA for reasons that I don't even know, but I guess I will find out eventually. Maybe somewhere within my story I will figure it out. I'm well known as The Bad Ass for reasons that are kind of obvious once you meet me. Maybe that's why they're after me? Because I'm a Bad Ass? Nope, I doubt that. Well anyways, the answers are out there. Along with the answers to my past. The answer to life even. Maybe it really is 42 but I don't think it would hurt to start looking at one. So here we go. Mil SO (Military Significant Other)
My chest hurt as an empty feeling rushed over me. My breathing picked up as I clutched my chest. It was painful but yet, oh so familiar. Black dots swam in my vision as my heart beat wildly. I closed my eyes and tried to calm my breathing. Panic attacks weren't uncommon for me. I'd had them ever since the accident. I felt the tears roll down my cheeks as my face heated. It was getting harder to breath. It felt like the walls were closing in around me, and the oxygen was being sucked out of the room. "Iris! Calm down. You have to calm down," a voice sounded from a distance. It was too late; I was in full panic attack mode. My body shook as I sobbed in gasps. I felt hands on my arms but barely. I was too far-gone. The black dots increased as my breathing did. I'd done this too many times to know what was coming next. I hyperventilated until I passed out completely. ~ After a traumatic event that led to her family's death, Iris moves with her Aunt to California to try and start over. Iris Morgan grew up a military brat. With her dad in the Marines, she grew accustomed to that lifestyle, until she was ripped from it. Now she has to be the new girl all over again. Only this time, she has to keep her PTSD in check as well as survive a high school full of teen celebrites, cute boys, and around the clock drama. All Iris has to do is survive two years until graduation, but what comes after graduation may prove to be more difficult than high school itself.Complete
WHEN REALITY HITS PERFECT
Katie never imagined something like this could happen to her. She always thought she would live peacefully with her millionaire Dad and twin brother Kyle. Luke somehow turns out not to be Luke as unexpected events occur in her life. Her family gets captured, Dad's company was taken over by an enemy, but not the enemy we expected and she gets to meet people she never even thought off. Adventure. Teenromance. Family wars. Heart breaks. Is what to expect from our story, WHEN REALITY HITS PERFECT. Trust me guys the story is more fun than how it's been put cause I'm not really good at writing these things. ************ "What's wrong?" He asked and I pointed straight ahead where light was pouring in. He still looked at me confused, not getting what I was saying. I sighed before opening my mouth "Run" and as soon as I said that the door was kicked open and we could hear them shouting. "Where are those little trouble makers?" they asked her but she shook her head telling them she had no idea where we were. One growled madly like an angry lion and yelled "You can run away little kiddies but you can't hide forever" and with that we heard gun shots and curses but little did they know, we were already out the door..... My Soldier (*Completed*)
"Do you have to leave?" I say through tears. "I promise I'll be home before you know it." That's a lie. It'll feel longer than what it actually is. And it will all feel like hell. "I'll be lost and...and...alone without you, Matt" I sob even harder. "Don't say that. You'll have Aunt Kathy and Jo. Trust me when I say this: they know exactly what they're doing. They've been through plenty of these before." I nod, not trusting my voice, afraid I'll break down again. His hand comes to my cheek as he wipes a tear that's falling. His arms then indulge me in a huge hug, his familiar cologne invading my nostrils. "STARKS! We're boarding!" I flinch at the fact that its time to let him go. He kisses the top of my head, "I love you." He whispers in my ear. "I love you too." I respond weakly. "I love you most." And with a final, hard kiss, he walks away from me. I have no real experience in the military. Just putting that out there. I'm 8th grade. This story contains quite the blood scenes but I've died them down. In the works. No cursing.
