He told her parents he'd be back when she was seventeen to take her away to his kingdom. Aria's parents were heartbroken, they never wanted to speak of it until the day it would happen. So they kept it from Aria, enforcing strict rules as she grew older in fright he might change his mind and go for her.
Until the day arrives and Aria wakes up in the middle of the night to find a vampire hovering over her. Luciano whisks her away without even letting her bid a goodbye to her parents.
