Sharky is not your average teenager. At age thirteen, she is paying the mortgage and the electric bill, driving the car and grocery shopping, and fending off the social workers whenever they come to the door. Her mother drinks and slops around all day. Her father is nowhere to be seen. Sharky finally has enough. She decides to run away. But she doesn't know what is awaiting her, lurking in the future like sharks lurk in the depths of the ocean.
