Running For Humanity

For some reason, I always thought that I could run. I thought I could run to infinity and leave my memories behind.
I thought I could run from reality.

But I should have known better. Because when you run, there is always something chasing you. It simply becomes a matter of who's faster. Eventually, you have to slow down at some point or you burn out. Not me. I can't slow down. If I even pause to breathe, it's all over. I can't afford to let it end, because when I end, so does humanity.

Nevaeh can barely remember the life she led before the invasion. She was but a child when the ships descended and her mother was ripped from her arms. With no one to help her, she survived. Alone. She existed outside of the walls where the remnants of humanity were sheltered. She lived outside of the prisons and labs the aliens created, below their floating palaces. She was the last free human. Their last ray of hope. And most despairing of all, she was the last female. A gender both species wanted to control. So what other choice does she have but to run.
