Carmen is torn between two lives, the one she was forced to run away from at just ten years old, and her new one, with the couple that took her in and have looked after her. With her memory of the day that tore her life apart only fragments and flashes that torment her, she has pretends to focus on her future while struggling to hold herself together.

But as secrets start to spill out and the pull towards her past becomes stronger and stronger she finds herself losing grip of her present. With her best friend and neighbour, Ty, drifting further away from her as they both grow older, she heads back to the place where her life fell apart only to find a new family living there.

With the help of the son of the new family, Colm, they try to piece her past together. As Carmen starts to finally let another person into her life, will her memories finally let her go? Or will she be too late and let them swallow her whole?
