Charley Ashe is just your average, newly teenaged boy. He reads comics, though he hates them, and he hates the heroes in them even more. So at the end of Charley's eighth grade, when he is attacked by a giant dog, he is surprised to find that his parents know more than they let on.
Through a veritable rabbit hole, Charley is pulled into a world with all the things he has always hated most: heroes, villains and monsters galore(though not all are so obvious as they seem). It is made even worse when he finds out that he is at the center of the greatest prophecy of Undermire's history.
With only the help of his three closest friends, a hero thought dead for a decade, and a wizard of less that friendly intentions, Charley must traverse the continent of Mythel to find the other pieces of the prophecy before both Undermire and Earth are destroyed.
