But, on Terra second born daughters are expected to quietly serve the family interests dutifully following the older sister's lead. When the prototype ship she designed returns from being lost at sea, six months late, the church intercepts it and arrests the navigator for heresy. Janali rushes to defend her crew becoming entangled in world shattering political struggles against powerful church officials. Janali finds herself used as a spear tip as she is thrown into the power games that control her world. In order to save her crew and herself from being killed as heretics she must discover and reveal truths about the world the church wishes to be kept secret.
