Call her crazy, but in 14-year-old Rome Trindigan's mind, Summer is real... Even though everyone else in her foster home thinks she's a loser. Having grown up with little more than the clothes on her back, Rome has few real friends and certainly no real family. No one has any expectations for Rome, and the only place she's going is probably the big house... Since she's spending her summer working as a drug courier. However, Rome's life is suddenly changed forever when she makes friends with Ace, a cop who (accidentally) runs her over one day. Rome's life gets even more interesting when she meets Nate and Bugs, two teenagers who are also in foster care, and Milliana, a woman who has a long, complicated history with Ace. However, things take an unexpected turn for the worse when a figure from Ace's past, Zig, appears, 'mistakes' Rome for a girl who died 10 years ago and decides that he wants her dead. When Rome discovers that her predicament might not be caused by a simple case of mistaken identity, Rome decides to fight back against Zig. However, amongst all the fighting and the chaos, Rome might have just found the one thing she's always been looking for... A family.
