Sehnsucht (pronounced zayn-zookt) is a German word that is nearly impossible to fully translate or define. Its most basic meaning is that it refers to a deep longing or desire for something that feels unattainable, almost a sense that “something is missing.” These poems are all products of sehnsucht of some sort.
