In a post apocalyptic world there are those who serve to protect a more special, more important, more dangerous, extraordinary being. These people are the protectors and they're to make sure these greater humans, The Luminaries of Phoenix, are safe from the depraved people with the need for power. Verity, a 16 year old girl who has trained her whole life to be a protector, who has been through so many trials and tribulations, soon finds out that she is more than what she has trained to be....That she has a bigger more better purpose that might just bring back the human existence

She's always been different, or at least treated as such, and one day, she found out why. Sage Phoenix is a 16-year-old girl whose world isn't so natural. The weather is not controlled by Mother Nature herself but by a man in a lab coat and a man in a suit and tie; Dr. O'neel and President Waters. The citizens of her so-called world are divided into sectors based on their wealth. Sectors 1-13, she lives in Sector 2. Sage never knew the feeling of her life being endangered or on the line until all sectors were joined together in one school. But the act was so sudden, the sectors have always been split up, so why would the President do this? The more she goes in search of answers, the more in danger she becomes. How far will she go to achieve such answers? Will she live to even speak of them?
