Mature

I look down into the bottomless hole before me.

My mind telling me to jump, yet, my heart telling me to go home and snuggle up in my bed and forget I ever attempted this.

I make the decision. 'Jump!' My mind yells at me while a feeling of dread places itself in the base my stomach.

I take a small step forward. A rock falling off the edge and falls into the deep abyss. 

Tears run down my cheeks, racing to fall before me.


I grab the razor out of my pocket and pull up the sleeves of my favorite jacket.

I scrape the razor over my skin, cutting deeper than ever. Blood pooling atop my skin. I cut my other wrist the same.

I place my other foot next to the other, telling myself the dread will be over soon if I jump.

I place another foot in front of the other, standing in the sweet nothingness. 
I remove my arms from my sides and cover my face. 

"Don't jump!" I hear from behind me. 

It was too late.
