A lot happened two years ago... Two years ago, Skyler McKinnley was faced with the ultimate betrayal by the people she loved the most. Two years ago, she discovered that she was the guardian to the Keepers of the Elements,whose role was to guide and protect those whom she once called friends. Two years ago, she left. Torn apart. And with only her brother Alex by her side as she ran away from the destiny she was given. Now, she returns home to the small town of Velia, Wyoming only to encounter the past she fought so hard to leave behind. To her old friends, old enemies, and old memories that have haunted her until then. Her hatred for her old friends burns deep inside. An undying flame which she dares not to put out. Still, she can't deny the duty she'd been given as the guardian to the keepers. Especially with so much left unsolved and darkness so close both ahead and behind. You can't outrun the past. Even if the past is your biggest enemy.

But in this underlying world of Adepts, Demons and secrets within secrets, unlocking their potential will be harder than you think. ~^~^~^~^~^ So, this is my 2014 Nanowrimo story, which is basically an attempt to rewrite Phoenix, where it shall go through major changes in plot, characters as well as effects of my new-and-improved writing style.
