Halfway to Nowhere

Josephine Doe has had an okay life, given the circumstances. Sure, she's a homeless orphan during the Great Depression, but she isn't about to let that get her down. Especially not while she has a crush on her neighbor and childhood friend, William, and it looks like he might like her back. However, things can't stay happy for long, not when crime runs rampant and chaos rules over reason. Josie realizes that she might lose William to the darkness, even if she does everything in her power to save him from those who want to ruin him. {loosely based on real events}
