How is it possible for things to go completely fine to straight crap?

Emily is a laid back, smart, and super friendly girl. Why wouldn't anyone like her? But she gets bullied. By everyone, her "perfect" little parents don't even notice... She doesn't eat, and everyone once in awhile she cuts a little deeper than the last time.
