Gemma Starling has been on mute all her life, ever since her little brother died in a car accident she's always blamed herself. She listens to everyone's problems at school, she's not very popular but that's why people go to her, she won't speak to anyone so their secret is safe. But when Jason Barnes (Gemma's next door neighbour) tries to commit suicide, only Gemma can stop him.
