Alex was not a regular girl. Then again she kinda was. She was ok looking, kinda weird and kinda mature, very kind, caring and loving. A little too loving. Wes is the shy grade 9 cutie of the school who had her heart and even though she knew that he was attractive she is constantly trying to prove to everyone else that she likes him for who he is and that crushes are way more than looks. Every time time she sees him she becomes very self conscious and is constantly battling with her mind whether the action she chooses is a perfect moment or regret.

As I walk into the school, he spots me and immediately starts talking to me. I brush past him, ignoring him, but today is definitely not my lucky day... He grabs my arm firmly, stopping me, and turns me to face him. The pain on my face contorts his expression. "What's wrong, Emma? Lost your voice, lizard?" I don't look at him; my head is hung low once again. "When I'm talking, you need to look at me!" he shouts, lifting my chin so I have to meet his gaze. I look at him, but it's not with innocence; it's with anger. "Oh, look, Emma's angry, everyone!" he mocks. "Just leave me alone," I say, meeting his eyes as I pull my arm free from his grip and walk away. He stares at me, shocked, as do all the kids around us, not expecting what I just did.
