"Won't you tell me your name?" The young girl pleaded, deep blue eyes desperate for an answer. Dressed in rags, her frail hands shook on the back of his vest, adorned with an abundance of burn wounds and a myriad of scars. "I need to know how to address my hero..."

"We give names to things we hold dear," He replied plainly, turning back only to push away from her grasp, deep brown eyes clouded with a dull, monotonous glint. "That's the worst thing you could do, fall in love. I'll be dead by next week."

"Oh, and one more thing..." He added, taking a single, heavy step. A step that carried seemingly the weight of the world, the souls of a thousand fallen soldiers swimming in the veins of a single leg. "Heroes don't exist."

---

Jackal.

Though his given name was lost long ago, the rouge renegade took the alias with a wary hand, the name is has taken the world by storm and has become synonymous with the words 'hope' and 'freedom.' In a world where choice and free-will have long turned to ash, Jackal serves as the Phoenix that has risen to rebuild it all.

He'll do whatever it takes.

"Stop pretending to be an idiot, idiot." Ouch. It burns. "You're starting to sound like a dear old friend of mine," she adds, her tone implying that her "friend" isn't so much of a "friend" as a mortal enemy who she probably also dragged into an alley on multiple occasions. Because she must be a fan of alley-dragging. Theater major. "I bet that friend was super amazing," I retort anyway. "She'd have to be to put up with you." Oh! Snap! I grin like an idiot at my own joke, realize how uncool that is, and then quickly rearrange my face into a frown. "I'm sorry. I don't quite understand. You're supposed to be a superhero, so why are you threatening a fellow superhero? Isn't that kind of against our code or whatever?" "You don't have a code. Superheroes who follow codes don't drop off information about people's allegedly dead sons at their doorsteps and then run." Well, can't say she doesn't have a point there. -- After being framed for the horrific murder of Birchwood City's most revered superhero's six year-old son, Maya Waterman abandons her super-villain persona and finds herself lost without any sense of identity and purpose. Being hunted by a vengeful super is hard enough, but after her employer fires her and she's evicted from her apartment, Maya begins to become something she had prayed she would never become again- helpless. She needs nothing less than a miracle to save herself, and much to her surprise, she gets just that-- even if it entails her trying her hand at becoming a good guy for once.

She blocked the actual hit amazingly enough but her body couldn't possibly withstand the weight of a direct hit from someone that size, she was still a child, physics was a law. She was kneeled down as he showed up in front of her before she could catch her breath, she felt her jaw dislocate as his knee crashed into it. She fell to the ground and tried to warp teleport away but he held onto her. Pain and fear again even away from hell was this world really this messed up. "You're an interesting little girl so I will give you an opportunity instead of an execution. Join the Guards, work under my orders on missions, pledge your loyalty to the crown. He will still be locked up but that is his mother's wish. I have no control of those but I won't hurt him or you if you anymore if you agree. You can go to the hospital and get taken care of. I simply must find out who you are girl. Do you have a name? Where did you come from? This seems beneficial to you no? Oh my I broke your jaw you can't speak. Then just shake your head yes or no for now. Do you accept my offer or face execution the choice is yours." Isabella looked over at Kuro and turned a determined gaze back on Jamiston nodding yes as she pushed her jaw back into place and concentrated on healing the broken teeth, bones and cuts in her mouth. "Marvelous! I simply had to make you mine your strength can help me climb up the ladder in no time." His smile and the sound of genuine happiness coming from him made her sick. Pledge herself to him? Missions? What ladder did he need to climb? She shook her head. Whatever. She concentrated on activating her healing crysts even though she was exhausted, healing him and projecting her barrier at the same time had drained her faster than she had noticed now that she wasn't moving.

"Shit!" I muttered under my breath. He pulled open the door and headed for me with a smile that made my skin crawl. I withdrew my gun from my bag and hid it under the table. "Ah Blake Reid. At last we meet!" He pulled out the chair directly across from me. "Who are you and why have you been following me?" I growled. "I'm the man who is going to kill you," he gave me a masochistic smile. I withdrew my gun from its place under the table. It was pointed between his eyes and I took pleasure in the shock that was on his face. He had only gotten his gun halfway out. The staff was still unaware of me holding a gun to this man's head because they were all around back in the kitchen. "Sorry, but that's just not going to happen," I said sweetly. "In such a public place? How brazen of you," he challenged in a shaky voice. "Yes, all the staff is in the back where they can't see us. Oh and if you didn't notice, there's a silencer on my gun. Say good-bye my dearie," I pulled the trigger and sent the bullet through his head. Blake Reid isn't your normal 17 year old. She's an assassin on her last case... or so she hopes. She is having difficulty with memories of her past and can't seem to get out of her shell, even though that is one of the biggest assets needed for her assignment. She will also face many obsticales; some of which she may not survive. Join her in the choas and death she calls her life. (Cover created by Vico96, an amazing friend of mine. Check him out!)

I can't keep the smile off my face as I take my seat on the plane. I slide my bag under the seat and lean back. I close my eyes and let a blissful smile grace my face. He said I wouldn't be able to run. As if. I'm vaguely aware of someone taking the seat next to mine, but I pay no attention to said person. "So where we headed?" I choke on my own spit as my eyes fly open and whirl around to face the owner of the familiar voice. His eyes are hidden behind those damn sunglasses and a rather smug smile graces his face. I continue choking and he does nothing other than flip through a magazine. That smug smile never leaving his face. "You still haven't answered the question." "To hell." I finally manage to choke out. "Awesome," He flips a page in the magazine, "It's about time I returned home. You know, bodies to burn, lost souls to torture, I've missed it. It'll be fun." *** Nicolette Moore. But he doesn't know who she really is. What will he do when he finds out? An FBI Agent protecting THE Hacker. The one the FBI have been after for years...this just screams chaos.

'No, he didn't'. I was so shocked by the turn of events. Everything was going fine and then suddenly boom, everything turned upside down. I just couldn't believe this. What did he think of himself? 'Leave me alone.' I said firmly but his hold on me was so strong. I was struggling to get out of his bear hold but to no avail. 'Oh!! So, the poor lady thinks that I will leave her alone and just let her go free?' He had that evil laugh and boy, his breath stank. 'Man, you just signed your death warrant and I will do one favour on you.' No one messes with me. 'Ooooh, I am so scared that I almost peed my pants.' Again that idiotic laugh. I counted till 5 and then kicked right in his balls. I turned around and grabbed his hair from roots, jerked them so badly and then gave my hard elbow shot on his chin. Everything happened so fast for one moment he was standing and the other lying on floor wiggling. I charged at him with my cheetah speed, picked up a wooden rod and started hitting him wildly, 'You idiotic stinky breath was trying to steal my backpack. You are so dead.' 'Favour, favour, favour.' He was screaming in pain just after few seconds and was panting hard. I picked my paste from my bag and threw at him, 'Brush your teeth.' I was fuming. I turned around and saw him standing wide-eyed, 'Hi, I am Scarlett.' I smiled showing my 32 teeth. 'I am scared.' His look puzzled me. "I don't care if you do proms or not. I'm not missing my last high school prom. You're going to prom with me and that's a period," I said in a final tone. "Nope. Still not going," He said with a smirk on his face, looking the least fazed by my ranting. I sighed, annoyed. "I hate you and I'm never talking to you again!!!" "Talk about weirdest ask out ever." Theo muttered jokingly and Kim laughed while I narrowed my eyes at them. I couldn't blame them. My situation was pathetic. "You can't be serious," Lyrik said, putting his phone into the pocket of his jeans. "Wait here. We'll be right back." Kim said as she and Theo went back to the store to finish their shopping, leaving Lyrik and I in the parking lot. "Doce." I didn't reply him, just got my phone out and started doing random things. "Come on. This is uncalled for." No reply. "Assassins don't go to prom," He said such that only I could hear since he just stated his secret Job, still trying to justify himself and i resisted the urge to roll my eyes at him. There's literally no such law. Anyone can go to prom if they want to. I heard him sigh loudly. "Fine I'll go with you, okay?" He said, pouting. Next thing I knew, I was grinning widely as i tucked my phone away. I know it was the last thing to expect from someone like Lyrik, but I guess silent treatment was his weakness. "Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!" I squealed and hugged him tightly. "Yeah, whatever," He said when I let go of him, then muttered under his breath, "Even I can't understand why I do the things I do for you." *~* Aneeqa D' elvano is left alone for the whole summer due to her mom's kind of job. She just wants to spend time with her friends and stay away from trouble...Except she signs up for trouble when she gets herself kidnapped by a goddamn hot assassin.
