Skyla Donovan was just going to meet up with her best friends one fine Saturday evening- having in mind a memorable night full of joy and fun. She never intended to witness a gruesome scene on her way. Neither did she expect to get caught by those involved. She finds herself in a situation where her life is at risk and there is little chance for her to be saved. Unless someone comes to her aid, there is a great possibility that her life might come to an end at the ripe age of eighteen.

Blake Zaiveron do not really have a choice when it comes to his elder brother; against his wish, he follows him to his odd meetings at night. This particular one though was not what he predicted. Not only does he finds himself involve in a crime but he also gets indulged with a rather popular girl at his school - not as a schoolmate but as the prisoner of his brother's gang. Saving the life of an innocent girl or his loyalty to his brother is a question which makes him indecisive.

But one night something happens which finally pushes him over the edge, and as a result, he leaves his house the next morning with two things: his mother's gun and a plan. Living with a neglectful and drug addicted mother wasn't easy for Jay, and it definitely didn't help that his father abandoned the family while he was still a child. He harbored a hatred toward his parents, and that hatred extended to almost everyone and everything around him, producing a very troubled and damaged young kid. As Jay enters high school, he becomes very intrigued with one of his classmates. Kind of obsessed, actually. Her name: Mikayla Keeler. Instead, the two of them keep each other company, and their friendship very quickly escalates into a romantic and intimate relationship. Despite having Mikayla, Jay's troubles continue to burden him. He and Mikayla are fighting habitually, his home life is still unbearable, and his time at school is hardly any better, made worse by a bully named Calvin. Their mutual dislike of one another leads to a lot of hostility, routinely leading to Jay being sent to his school's principal. One confrontation in particular goes much too far, resulting in Jay's expulsion from school. I cringe at my own words, and think back to a time where Fletcher was one of the only people calling me Ze. "Does anyone have questions for Miss. Bolivi?" Fletcher asks, and I hate the way my father's last name sounds on his lips. Lots of students raise their hands, and I feel overwhelmed. People actually want to learn something about me? "Yes, Miss. Abbott. Ask away," Fletcher says to one of the girls who is seated at a table at the front of the class, with other kids who all look bitchy like her. "Are you related to the Bolivi brothers?" Her disgustingly sweet voice pukes out. "My last name is Bailey," I say coldly, hating how that was her only query about me. - - - Hazel Bailey. She's your typical Australian teenage girl.
