After he saves her he realized he got him self deep with the sharks when the girl wakes up and tells him that he's a Keeper, A person who has to protect nephilim from demons and other unearthly things, and not only is she being chased by deadly demons but Lawrence finds out she's a nephilim a.k.a an Angel.
