small excerpt:

The sun sparkled as I played in the meadow outside of my home, running and dancing in the blooming wildflowers. My parents smiled at me, their eyes glistened with a hint of tears. I smiled at them and looked at my older brothers. They chased me and wrestled with each other.
"Everly, darling we love you so much, don't forget about us" my Father said waves of emotion flowed into his words.
"daddy why does that sound like a goodbye? Are you leaving?"
"Sweet pea, you'll understand one day, wait here."
My family walked away, my parents ushering my brothers out of the meadows until the sounds of their footsteps completely disappeared. The sun began to set, the sky changed from blue to hues of honey, deep red and oranges. It would be dark soon, was my mommy and daddy coming back for me?
A howl in the forest told me I was not alone here anymore. The bushes rustled and yellow eyes appeared all around, circling the meadow. I ducked into the hollow log that my parents once sat on watching me happily play. There was a growl that caused me to whimper. Some more rustling continued and suddenly I was pulled out of the log by my hair. I screamed.
"Why what do we have here boys?! It looks to me like a female runt, you know what we do with those?" The man chuckled and soon everyone else joined in. I cried as the man carried me out and away from my home.
