Romance
16+ (harsh language and some sexual scenes) Janaeya and her friends finally get the summer of many chances they've always wanted. Janaeya's possibilities are endless. She is ready to have a summer of fun and relaxation and flirting. But she is in for a surprise. It's as if God sent Janaeya to Harvey to fulfill a certain purpose. Or purposes, rather. But she's only 18. She meets Susanne, the motel's receptionist and manager who is dealing with the murder of her only child, and Paige, a girl her age who doesn't know how to escape her verbally and physically abusive boyfriend. Janaeya struggles with the two and tries to help, but she doesn't realize that she may need help, too. Voilà! In comes Jamaal: charming, humble, handsome, and smart. She feels attracted to him, but her traumatic past has her trapped in a cage and it's hard for her to let herself fall in love or feel she's worthy of it. Janaeya's summer was supposed to be carefree and fun. Instead, she struggles with her own inner demons, as well as other people's, and her relationships are tested ore than they've ever been. As the summer goes on and Janaeya makes new friends and learns a lot of herself, she's surprised about what she discovers. cover by @DancingBarefoot1 (wattpad.com)

Silvy Richards has lived the majority of her childhood based on the assumption that she and her surrogate family of friends will always be together forever. But by the time the summer of '88 rolls around, it seems that right when she is drowning in the sea of life, her "family" is drifting further and further from her grasp. Silvy suddenly finds her world spinning out of control and is struggling to figure out how things have managed to go so terribly wrong. Even worse, this spiral seems to be happening at a time when she needs her friends the most. At the tender age of fifteen, Silvy quickly learns that a family united can easily become a family divided. Through a series of epiphanies brought on by drug use, child abuse and sexual assault, she finds herself no longer seeing the world through the eyes of a child, but in the light of a well lived adult. This story follows a group of friends, who think of themselves more as family, through one tragic summer that will alter the course of their lives forever. Some of these kids will make it out of the summer alive, and some of them won't. This is the story of one teenager's struggle for survival, and for the survival of her "security blanket" of friends, sewn together by fate and torn apart the same way. Copyright@2009
