	When he reached the top, he came to a room. It was empty except for a small window at the top. He leaped up and grabbed the ledge, pulling himself over and out next to a gargoyle.
	The dizzying drop made him stumble and he grabbed the gargoyle to steady himself. There was a second ledge six feet below, and if he swung off it he would land in a small cluster of dirty clothes. It was a chance to get away. And Sam really wanted to tell this information to the Alpha if he ever got to them.
	Sam heard the guards burst into the room, and he prayed. Then he jumped, and his hand brushed the gargoyle's ear as the nearest guard lunged for his shirt.--
