Selective mutism (SM) is an anxiety disorder in which a person who is normally capable of speech does not speak in specific situations or to specific people. Selective mutism usually co-exists with shyness or social anxiety.

That's what they tell everyone I have. It's not that I choose not to talk, because I really would perfer not to be able to but simply because I seen no reason to. Talking got me no where and I realized sometimes silence is the biggest cry of all. Once my family died and I was forced into foster care well...Let's just say talking was better left to everyone else.
