Every culture has their own foretelling of the end of the world, with their own gods attributing to the destruction. Many tales talk of the gods coming to earth, and no one knows which one is correct.
But the gods had their own foretelling, that at the end, they would fall to earth and experience the end along with mankind, as mortals, and they would survive to rise into divinity again, or they would perish alongside the humans who worshipped them.
The end has come, and it is not like any end ever that has been foretold before. The dead walk the earth and the gods walk beside them.
