Gus is an animal herder who lives in the Grey Forest on the island of Illyria. Raised by the dragon Anaron 'The Bold', he spends his days tending to the animals in the forest and receiving instruction from the Giant  Ulias in order to join the Sacred Order of the Mannikil. The day the fugitive Dark Elven Princess Adalaia appears on the island ,looking for a hero and the help of a member of the legendary guild of Mannikin,  Gus must slowly leave his tranquil life behind him and go on an adventure. Princess Adalia is on the run. Her people have been placed under a curse, her father has been enslaved by a sorceress and the tree of life the Dark elves depend on is dying. framed for a plot on her uncles life she escapes but is cursed by an emissary of the sorceress. Now she lives with an ancient curse on her which will slowly spread through her and kill her.  With the aid of Gus and Edgar. J Schultz a Bear King,  Adventurer, and the richest man in Rodrim, adalaia will set sail for the Holy seat of the Rodrim government in order to find people who will listen, sorcerers who will remove the curse on her and her people and warriors worthy and powerful she will need in order to retake her kingdom .

The first in a series of books set in the world of rodrim and detailing the lives and adventures of a different member of the three great orders: The Mannikil each possessing the mark of a different great dragon (Shadow , Water,  Sky  dragons), The Seros of the Griffon Marks and The Dagath of the Beast Marks.
