I looked up to him finally. He looked hurt. Like he was being eaten up inside. He looked to be in more pain than I was. Like my pain was effecting him...
"Krys. Please, don't cry." Dillan pleaded.
"What do you expect me to do, Dillan!?! They're dead! We can't survive this! Most of our friends are gone! They're gone, Dillan... I don't know what else to do..." I screamed, tears violently flowing down my face.
He cupped my cheeks in his hands, "Survive. To survive is to live and to live is to survive... Survival is key. Krys what you need to do is survive." He whispered looking into my eyes with his papaya colored ones.
"Survive..." I whispered to myself.
But on the inside, I was already dead.

Nothing left my mouth as I stared at him in shock. He truly believed that I was part of this. The man, who I had lived with and served for months. The man who I had protected with my life and soul. I stood still while, as he backed away from me quickly. "I trusted you with my life." His cry pierced around the empty room. He looked so destroyed and hurt, but mostly his face portrayed rage and determation. "And I protected you with mine." I spoke back loudly. I didn't hear myself say it but I knew I did. I look into his eyes even from our distance they seemed to wallow me in darkness. "I gave you mine." My voice was quiet and cracked. His face changed only for a second before his old one took over again. He doesn't believe me. It doesn't matter what I say or do he won't listen. He will still believe I am the bad guy. Just as Kane said, we will never be equals, we will never be fellow humans. We will always be monsters to them. "Yakov, I am not the bad guy." I plead one last time. [COMPLETED] "Shoot," Joey mumbles, letting out a string of profanities under his breath. We turn around to find a group of men, all with guns, standing where we just came from, and they look pissed... probably because they were forced to run through this tunnel after us. "Leave us alone," Joey says, sounding dangerous and snapping me out of my thoughts. The levity of the situation hits-we need to get out of here. I look around for a route of escape and thankfully I see a light, literally, at the end of the second tunnel. I let out a small, almost inaudible, gasp and nudge Joey. He looks at me and I subtly gesture with my head to the second tunnel. He glances at it and immediately we are on the same page. His jaw sets and he looks at the group.
