"Maybe we're twisted together, like your hair." Max said, fiddling with her braids. Rini rolled her eyes, he couldn't possibly be serious.
"I mean it." He continued. "Braids don't come out easily, I should know, I have three sisters. Unless someone puts in the effort to tear them apart, they're sorta stuck together."
Rini picked up her notepad and quickly scrawled 'You think we're stuck together?' In her usual messy handwriting.
"Well yeah, kinda." He said, looking sort of embarrassed. She shook her head and thought of a response. The only thing she could think to write was 'You're weird'
He laughed. "Well, maybe a little."

Rini has lived her entire life almost entirely secluded for other people. In fact, she'd only interacted with two until nearly her 17th birthday.
Thrown from her peaceful life in the woods to life in an ordinary suburban town is anything but easy. But Rini's will have to learn if she wants a normal life, away from those who would take it from her.
