Lieutenant Commander Astrid Watson is the head security officer aboard the USS Enterprise. Being a mix of races, with an Andorian Father and a Half Vulcan mother, her either exceptional control or lack of control over her emotions often leads to pretty interesting situations. After the murder of her human cousin many other Star Fleet officials, she is sent with her friends aboard the Enterprise to apprehend their killer. 

A clever prisoner, a pursuit across space, and a new friend that helps her overcome her grief makes her question everything she thought she knew about herself.
