Egregore (also egregor) is an occult concept representing a "thoughtform" or "collective group mind", an autonomous psychic entity made up of, and influencing, the thoughts of a group of people. - Wikipedia.
In Tibetan Buddhism, according to the Bardo Thodol, this concept is also known as Tulpa. This being can also be an object and It is believed that the sheer thought brings to life and materealize it into a physical form.

This story is an entry in the Open Novella Contest 2022. The prompt was "When Grandma told them about the train that comes once a year to take children to the land of dreams, the siblings thought it was just a silly old legend. But then, they heard a steam whistle in the middle of the night." I'm taking that idea but changing it pretty drastically.
