Every child born is born with a tattoo on their wrist. Only two people in the world have the same tattoo. These two people are soulmates. When you get closer to your soulmate your tattoo starts to burn. When their hands intertwine for the first time their tattoos change to their soulmates favorite color. 

Alyssa Gold was self conscious about her tattoo, so she covered it up all the time. She would always compare it to others to see if they were her soulmates even though she knew they weren't. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper. Color. It's something our brain makes up. It doesn't really exist. So how come everyone made a big fuss about meeting and touching their soulmate so they could see in color? After all, what's so bad about black and white? Aren't they colors too? That's what Nico thought anyway. When he was younger he had tried to imagine a new color but had never been able to.
