A demon decides to leave Hell but is really, really bad at it.
Terminal is about Mannie Ávila, an egotistical and gossip-loving, but low-ranked, demon who decides they've had enough of Hell, and heads off- only to stumble upon a shaky, surely doomed plan by the higher ups to pursue peace with Heaven (and the murderous angels who lurk there).
Terminal stands on its own, but is part of a series (all written) about mental illness, friendship, self-destruction... and uh, jokes. The urban fantasy 'secret city' world is a little bit silly and doesn't take itself too seriously, while still weaving stories about horrible people trying to change, and often failing. Plus some good ol' political satire to liven things up.
First book in a trilogy, followed by Radicle.

She was simply trying to rehearse lines for an audition. And he's getting pissed off she won't give him a name so he can kill and go home. The problem is, pissed off turns into something else and before he knows it, he wants to take away some of that innocence and loosen her up, or better yet, tie her up make her his. Caught between who he is expected to be and who he used to be, Nichael is confused, trusted with too much power, and overall, a threat to his loved ones. As cults grow, friends grow distant, and he falls in love, nothing is clearer than one simple fact: Nichael is an angel. Surprise!! It's a Terminal side novel! WHAT?!? How niche! It's probably best read as book 2.5, but it can stand alone. Evergreen follows enigmatic Michael Lexington, mentally unstable archangel extraordinaire. Ten years into the peace, he's trying to cling onto his past as the ruler of heaven, but finding everyone has left him behind. On his 220th birthday, however, he receives a strange visitor- an old friend, in fact. An old friend who is very much dead, and who he played a part in killing. So his past is literally coming back for him. His friend doesn't seem to know much either, only Michael's name. Together they're going to figure this out!! What is going on? Why is his friend here? Cecilia assumes it's all just one big, extremely cruel prank by the twins in order to rile her up and test her limits. After all, Maisie is everything that Cecilia would rather leave behind her, determined, opinionated, and so very clearly wrong. But it doesn't take Cecilia and Maisie long to realize that the handcuff prank is a little more than just a lighthearted joke. The thing about Demon metal is that it is a fickle thing. It can only be unlocked by the person who has the key and no matter what method is used, it cannot be broken. Cecilia would rather just forget the whole thing, refuse to give Ezekiel the satisfaction he so wants, and remain handcuffed to Maisie for the rest of her life. It doesn't take long to realize that it's just not possible. Maisie is everything that she shouldn't be in the human realm. Bigoted, rude, and annoyingly difficult. She can't even get close to Cecilia without making some sort of remark on how she can't stand Demons. As the time ticks down and options become less and less, maybe being handcuffed to each other will teach Cecilia and Maisie a thing or two about themselves.
