A demon decides to leave Hell but is really, really bad at it.
Terminal is about Mannie Ávila, an egotistical and gossip-loving, but low-ranked, demon who decides they've had enough of Hell, and heads off- only to stumble upon a shaky, surely doomed plan by the higher ups to pursue peace with Heaven (and the murderous angels who lurk there).
Terminal stands on its own, but is part of a series (all written) about mental illness, friendship, self-destruction... and uh, jokes. The urban fantasy 'secret city' world is a little bit silly and doesn't take itself too seriously, while still weaving stories about horrible people trying to change, and often failing. Plus some good ol' political satire to liven things up.
First book in a trilogy, followed by Radicle.

Nichael is an angel. And that's all you really need to know about him- he follows the rules. He loves Michael, his leader. He fights demons when he is called on, and otherwise tills the earth of Heaven. But then he is sent to Hell to spy on Michael's behalf, and there he meets a mysterious demon who seems intent to make him remember something he knows he shouldn't. He also gets pulled under the metaphorical wing of the egomaniacal Stacy Baruth, a possible criminal and certain mastermind, who guides Nichael to demons who don't fear angels- they worship them. Caught between who he is expected to be and who he used to be, Nichael is confused, trusted with too much power, and overall, a threat to his loved ones. As cults grow, friends grow distant, and he falls in love, nothing is clearer than one simple fact: Nichael is an angel. Cecilia Star has been alive long enough to know what it's like to be a demon in the human realm, but she's also been alive long enough to cope with her everyday life. But when she wakes up handcuffed to a strange Angel she's never met before, she's thrown for a loop. Cecilia assumes it's all just one big, extremely cruel prank by the twins in order to rile her up and test her limits. After all, Maisie is everything that Cecilia would rather leave behind her, determined, opinionated, and so very clearly wrong. But it doesn't take Cecilia and Maisie long to realize that the handcuff prank is a little more than just a lighthearted joke. The thing about Demon metal is that it is a fickle thing. It can only be unlocked by the person who has the key and no matter what method is used, it cannot be broken. Cecilia would rather just forget the whole thing, refuse to give Ezekiel the satisfaction he so wants, and remain handcuffed to Maisie for the rest of her life. It doesn't take long to realize that it's just not possible. Maisie is everything that she shouldn't be in the human realm. Bigoted, rude, and annoyingly difficult. She can't even get close to Cecilia without making some sort of remark on how she can't stand Demons. As the time ticks down and options become less and less, maybe being handcuffed to each other will teach Cecilia and Maisie a thing or two about themselves. Satan has been mistreated since day one. Ever since her parents found out they were having boy and girl twins, they have been disgusted but the fact of having a girl. Her mother wants nothing to do with her and her father has been touching her since the third grade. The treatment towards her brother is nothing but kindness and he's spoiled with everything. Gabriel had been treated like a baby his whole life, not having any chores and everything he wants. His mom treats him like a baby, and loves him more than her daughter. Satan can't help but feel betrayed and sick at the treatment. Even though she should be use to it, she isn't. Satan tries her best to fit in but with her brother's popularity and her selective mutism it isn't easy making friends. Although she isn't completely anxiety ridden and still wants friends, it's hard for her since she can't speak. Satan meets her opposite, a girl named Angel. Angel is an outgoing and talkative person, looking to find friends in a new school. Satan and Angel become friends, Angel teaching her sign. They eventually lead to something more, which seems to cause more than it should. He was torn from his purity of being an angel of heaven and stripped away from his angelic powers, causing Error to become much more than he ever was. Corrupted. As his father before him. Ink doesn't remember the past of the battle between heaven and hell, but his dreams and the visions he has been seeing say otherwise. Error meets Ink once again as of before. "Wings Of War" they would call it, but this would be a reunion to have both their memories back to how they were when they truly first met. The blurred out memories were actual events that happened between him and Error. And Ink wasn't the only one seeing them. Error had been seeing them, too. Lucifer Morningstar was Error's father, in which who erased his memories of the angel. Who now had the body of a mortal.
