Mavis's family has always been on the run, from what? She doesn't know. She keeps quiet as her mother shifts from town to town, job to job. She never complains because she knows it's hard moving around, yet still trying to make enough money to feed the both of them. 

Selena, Mavis's mother, called her into the kitchen one day, and the second she stepped in, she noticed a man in a suit, whose sky blue color seemed to have moving clouds on it. Her instinct was to ask her mother who he was.

Along the way with the help of Laelap and a runaway Titan, Rostris comes along life-threatening challenges like being close to Ekho but then missing her, dealing with Hera, Zeus's wife, that is trying to kill Ekho out of jealousy because Zeus likes to consort with nymphs and will stop at nothing to do it, and also being targeted by Ekho's daughter Lynx, who can make spells and will stop at nothing to kill Rostris. But what the real test is that is presented to Rostris is trust. Trusting herself and others because trust can go a long way.

But as their relationship grows intense and heated, she realizes that everything is too good to be true that she is just a puppet that is being controlled for his amusement and that she needs to question everything she ever knew.
