Beatrice, or Tris, has always been one to do good, and she loves to bake--so much that she went to a culinary school in France to master the art. Her parents, Natalie and Andrew, have owned a small and local bakery for years. Working there since graduation, Beatrice is shocked (and horrified) to find her parents upon her return from Paris. When she approaches her brother Caleb about it, he shamefully admits to the fact that he has a huge gambling debt.

Enter the mysterious Four, junior detective for the local police department, volunteering at the trade school just across the street from the Prior's bakery. While teaching troubled teens common trades to save them in simple ways, he wanders over to the bakery across the street. He steps into the simple life of Beatrice Prior, changing in crazier ways than she ever would've imagined.
