For MaKeila Peiterson, her life was just the way she wanted it to be..almost. She had an older sister, Hannah, who was 15, and a little sister, Ruthanne, who was 6 and had down-syndrome, and went by Ruthie. MaKeila herself was 13, about to turn 14, and she prefers to be called Keila. She has GAD, or Generalized Anxiety Disorder. This causes her to have anxiety attacks that, at most, can be severe, or they can be very minimal. But Keila doesn't get herself down about her disorder. Her mom was a stay at home mom, and her dad was a lawyer. Keila's dad and her didn't have a good relationship, they didn't always get along. They had a beautiful home only a couple miles from the ocean in Miami, Florida. Just the way she wanted it, until her perfect life is shattered when over their Thanksgiving break when Hannah is killed in a car accident with a suspected drunk driver. With the help of three of Hannah's friends, Sam, Kinnley, and Aspen, and some of Keila's own friends, Kya, Charlotte, and Bailey, she fights to find justice for her sister, all while learning what really matters most.
