"The best thing to do is just think of them as not the person they once were, but as the enemy. I know it’s hard. But this is how you’re going to survive another day. Mr. President isn’t talking about this problem; he’s completely ignoring it altogether. But I do have to warn you about something, and this piece of information is vitally important. You have to be careful about their blood. It carries the disease. If they scratch you, you’ll heal. But get their blood on you?"

Through Blood and Ash. What's left after everything burns? --------- They warned us. We didn't listen. Now the world is dead - and the dead are all that's left. The year is 6062, and humanity has collapsed under the weight of its own arrogance. A cure meant to save us twisted into something monstrous, turning loved ones into soulless predators with only one instinct: kill. Cara has lost everything - her family, her home, and the illusion that safety still exists. With a small band of survivors, she clings to life on the run, haunted by the screams of those she couldn't save... especially her brother. But when a desperate choice forces them back into the infected zones, Cara will have to decide what's worse: the monsters outside, or the guilt that's been tearing her apart from within. In a world where hope is dying and nightmares walk in daylight, survival comes at a cost - and not everyone is willing to pay it. -------------------------------- REWRITTEN I've gone back and rewritten this story from the ground up. As well as changed the name. The original had a strong foundation, but I knew there was more I could bring to it-more depth, more heart, and a better reading experience. I truly hope you enjoy this new version. And if you're returning from the original, thank you for sticking with me-I hope this one resonates with you just as much, if not more.
