He stared blankly ahead as if the words spoken were just lies, or at least he hoped they were. He fumbled with his fingers, the ground becoming the most interesting thing since the ocean.

He started but tears fell before he could finish. The peaceful sound of raindrops hitting the pavement sounded soon after.
He locked eyes with me and I could only whisper:
"Run."
