Picture being a pillar under a heavy weighted object, like a house. There is so much weight on your shoulders, but you have to stand tall, standing your ground, otherwise the house will collapse. Then suddenly, imagine that weight being lifted off of your shoulders, gone. You're free, and maybe you ought to be dancing around happily, enjoying the newly found weightlessness. Instead, you fall to the ground, being a bearer of that weight for so long has damaged your foundation. So when that time comes, the time that you're free, instead of dancing, you instantaneously fall to the ground.
Relief washing over you, tears of happiness, instead of all those tears of pain, the ground offering you comfort, letting you fall. For once you don't have to carry anything, you can truly be free of that weight on your shoulder because you know the ground is always under you, carrying your weight when you can't bear to carry your own anymore.
She was both my weight and my ground.
