Marilyn is a lonely girl, picked on at school and completely friendless. She never smiles. Her parents are no help. She has never seen them. They live in England, sending her money and paying her school funds. She has never known what it's like to have family, to be accepted. One day, a boy by the name of Max Green moves into the house next door to her. He has friends over all the time and they constantly play loud music. Not that it's a bad thing, they seem to be the only people with decent taste. Marilyn eventually meets Max when she is put in detention with his friend Ronnie, and she becomes part of their band, doing the screaming and some of the songwriting. But she still never smiles. Will Max be the one to make her smile?
