When a reality show starlet is murdered on national television, the producers of Hip Hop Hitmakers fear their show will be cancelled unless the murderer is caught. Just when they believe its time to pull the plug on the syndicated show the NYPD has an idea: send in an undercover detective to solve the case. Better yet send in a rookie.

Jordan Wells is a rookie cop struggling through the academy. She figures that part of it comes from the her intimidation of filling her police chief father's footsteps. The other part is that she's a daydreamer and would rather spend her days writing music rather than walking the beat and dealing with criminals. She almost quits when a case is thrust upon her in the dead of night. With no way of wiggling out of it, Jordan accepts with the intent of figuring out who she is and where she stands in the world of law enforcement. And when she's introduced to Hip Hip Mogul, Adonis Charles, she beings to think maybe it's not a world she wants to belong to.
