Darlena's life is normal. She lives with her mother, father, and sister, Anna, in a small Milwaukee apartment beside Lake Michigan. She remembers a calm, peaceful life in Wyoming, where she used to live close to her relatives, but she was forced to move because of her father's job as a freshwater ecologist wanting to study a great lake as opposed to the geysers and lakes of Yellowstone National Park. But her grandmother Nanna's heart attack forces her parents to return to Wyoming at the worst possible time.
Left with her aunt, Lindsey, and her sister, Anna, life continues--until the eruption of the Yellowstone Supervolcano. Without warning, ash, smoke, and poisonous gasses cover the entire country and fill the entire atmosphere, throwing Darlena's normal life into a paralyzing turmoil. Left only with the food in her pantry and daydreams, Darlena is forced to make many difficult decisions to adapt to a world covered in ash and air that could kill her with just one breath. Will she survive the devastating Yellowstone Supervolcano and the catasrophe that follows, or will she, too, become part of the ashes?

In the heart of autumn, when leaves painted the landscape with hues of gold and russet, a slumbering giant stirred beneath the rugged terrain of Yellowstone National Park. Nature held its breath, unaware of the upheaval that was about to unfold. The earth's crust trembled, whispering a warning that went unnoticed by most. Deep within the park's heart, geologists and scientists watched as subtle tremors danced across their instruments. Dr. Emily Carter, a dedicated volcanologist, furrowed her brow as she studied the readings. Unsettling signs had begun to emerge-subterranean shifts that hinted at a truth too ominous to ignore. As days turned into weeks, the tremors grew in frequency and intensity. Panic, like a shroud, spread through the small town of Bridgewater that nestled not far from the park's boundaries. Residents felt the ground quiver beneath their feet, uncertainty clouding their once peaceful lives. Amid the growing anxiety, three families-the Mitchells, the Bennetts, and the Lopezes-found their lives woven together by fate. Emma Mitchell, Mark Bennett, and Sofia Lopez shared a common concern for their town's future, their experiences serving as an unbreakable bond. As tension mounted, the ground beneath Bridgewater's streets rumbled, and the sky was blotted by a massive plume of ash and smoke. The eruption, like a primal force unleashed, turned the world on its head. The Mitchells, Bennetts, and Lopezes were thrust into chaos, their homes shattered, their lives upended. From the ashes of destruction, their story began-a tale of resilience, unity, and the indomitable human spirit. Through their struggles, they would discover that even in the darkest of times, the seeds of hope could take root. And as the nation of America grappled with the consequences of the eruption, Bridgewater's journey would become a beacon of inspiration-a reminder that the human spirit could rise above devastation and forge a path toward renewal.
