In 2048 vampire and human's lived together. They finally reached peace with the humans. Presidents or dictators no longer rule. Instead vampire are kings and queens over different areas off the world.  To keep the population of vampires and human's equal, humans and vampires were allowed to marry. Turning a human was a right given when necessary. Vampires began making arranged marriages with humans.  Other creatures that once hide in the shadows came to light. Being allowed to follow the new laws given.  In order to keep the peace. The King and Queen of each ruling area picked who their offspring would marry.

Without warning, his mouth is on mine. He kisses me roughly. His hands are on the back of my neck, holding me in place. For a moment, I was frozen, unsure of whether I wanted to push him away or kiss him back. Since I was not in control of my body around him, I kissed him back hard. I hear him groan into the kiss and a shudder travels through my body. The kiss was passionate and possessive, it felt like he wanted to own my body and soul. Then there is the story of a male vampire who has done unspeakable evils as a vampire and is eternally brooding and even though he can't help what he is, he tries to be the good, kind hearted lover for his human female. Or better yet, the female finds out her lover is a vampire and begs and pleads to be turned to live eternally young and thus tries everything in her power to become a vampire but the male vampire refuses to turn her so that she does not live a cursed life. After a mysterious man begins to befriend her while working at her job, a night of sex turns into the start of everything she thought she could handle into a whirlwind of challenges. It's easy to kill a person in the movies or in a book because it's fiction. But actually suck the life out of a living being and it be her new reality, that's a whole different ballgame. Nadine Burns must now learn to face being a Newborn vampire in a world where there is no kindhearted feelings and sunshine and rainbows. To top it all, she was turned by one of the most powerful vampire leaders in her city and must also learn how to parade around in vampire politics.

The world had gone to hell long ago, taken over by the vampire race. In order to keep some sort of peace in our land, the Vampire Lords made a consecutive agreement. The rich and powerful humans could survive just as they had been, untouched by the vampires save for the occasional blood collections, or so they thought In reality, we were all under their control. Castles spread out throughout our land, one landing in each city. Each castle varied in the number of vampires residing there, but all of them carried a Lord. The Lords were the ones in charge in every city, whether we liked it or not. The vampires often roam through the city, making sure that everyone was in order and no one stepped out of line. If you stepped out of line, you died, end of story. Even if the rich were still under their control, their lives were still better than the poor. The poorest lives held a much worse fate. The men were to be put to work as slaves, whether that meant serving a specific vampire, or just building their castles, they were slaves. The women were to be pets. Pets were the lowest rank you could have. They were forced into cages that were too small to stand in with collars around their necks. They spent their lives in pet shops, just waiting for the dreadful day that they'll be bought. They were treated like animals, trained into what their master wanted, and punished if they misbehaved. Those who were lucky enough to live through that, we're to be slaughtered for their blood at age twenty-five in an act to make sure that our population would stay steady. I was born into this world. Born into this world full of blood-sucking monsters. Except, I was one of the lucky ones. Was. It all ended for me when I was 12, when I was taken away from the last bit of hope and family that I had left.
