I stop, huffing and puffing after finishing my 20 laps warm-up of the field, finishing first.

"Hi everyone my name is Coach Woods and welcome to Football tryouts." Yells Coach as we run back into the center of the field were his standing.

Being the only girl trying out, it is hard having all the guys treat you like dirt because "you are a girl and girls can't play football."

Like, fuck the hell off perverted jerks.

While I'm walking towards the try out team I suddenly am being pushed forward. I fell on the ground with my breath taken away from me. I hear laughing behind me and I angrily stand up to see who's behind me. I turn around to find none other than Parker James with his famous smirk on his face.

I glare at him.

"Did you just push me?" I ask angrily.

"Oops sorry you were a bit to slow," he says with a smirk.

"Do you want to do that again?" I say challenging him, crossing my arms and stepping towards him.

His smirk deepens, extending his arms to push me again.

On the last second, with my right hand, I grab his hand sharply pulling it making him flip over onto his back. I quickly turn him over onto his stomach and grab both his hands behind his back, I jump on him, straddling his back.

I lean down to his ear and whisper.

"Are you sure you want to do it again."

He shakes his head with slight fear. The rest of the boys' football team looking at me, shocked.

I smirk and jump off his back and walk away like a boss.

*previously was known as adopted into a family of bad boys* "I always got the blunt of the burden... I always took the blunt of the burden..." I pause "I made a promise and I am not going to break it... there is no way I am going to let him lay a figure Alexey or Alec" tears formed in my eyes "I always did what's best for my family... I always will" I fought back the tears not looking them in the eye "he already took my mother, he is not going to take away them" I raised my voice "I am going to do whatever it take to stop him from lay a hand on anyone I love!" I started yelling, "even if I die in process" I was quieter again, I couldn't look them in the eye "Nicole you can't--" "nothing you say! Nothing you do! is going to stop me from doing what best for my family, for the ones I love... you can't stop me... no one can" I cut of Jay and looked him in the eye, a tear rolling down my face "I thank you father for adopting us... I thank you three for excepting us, I truly do... no matter how much I have grown to love you guys, you can't stop me" another tear rolled down my cheek "I am not just protecting Alexey and Alec anymore... he knows I love you, he will hurt anyone I love" I zipped my jacket up "please let me protect the ones I love... look after Alexey and Alec for me... please..." the three hugged me, Jay was in front of me, I silently cried into his chest "Stay safe Nicole" Jay whispered "We will take care of Alexia and Alec, but we can't replace you," Kaleb whispered from my right "Promise us you will come back" Ryan looked me in the eye causing more tears to come down "I will try my best, thank you" I walked out leaving my family behind, tear streaming down my face. Finding relationships is easy... Keeping them is the real game. That's what I'm learning in my first one. It's not easy. Our rival schools are an hour apart, my best friend's turning secretive, my parents are controlling, and my brother's still an ass, gearing toward winning the state championship, and still doesn't like my boyfriend, Logan. I get it, they're rivals, and I kinda feel like Logan's team might be better but this season will decide. Being the star rival quarterback's girlfriend brings big rumors and big drama, especially when elements of our pasts resurface - his jaded ex whatevers, and the secrets I thought I'd buried and moved beyond. All of this while I just want to figure out where to go for college and what for. "The moon's really beautiful, if you think about it," I blurted. "Yeah?" he asked, mild amusement and curiosity mingling in his voice. "Yeah," I confirmed. "It's just- there's something about the moon that's ethereal. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's a constant in life. You can't always see it, but you have to trust that it's out there somewhere. And when you can see it, it's all bright and shiny and overcomes the darkness." I paused, searching for the right words. "I don't know. I guess it's a reminder that there are good things out there, even if you can't see them... And it's cool to think that someone hundreds of miles away is staring at the exact same moon as you. It makes me feel not so alone in life." Turning my head, I saw him staring at me intently with a thoughtful look on his face. "Too deep for a Friday night?" I laughed nervously, feeling my face grow hot. And this was precisely why I didn't go to parties. He shook his head and seemed to snap out of his daze. "It was deep in a good way." *** SHE was quiet & left out. He took a step closer, the smirk not leaving his face as he could sense my irritation. "I've been looking forward to this for far too long," he laughed, licking his lips. "And for once, I'm gonna be the one knocking the smug smile off of your face." My scowl deepened, confused as to what he was talking about. He took another step forward, standing close enough for me to get a whiff of his minty breath and aftershave. He leaned in towards my ear, speaking loud enough for only me to hear, "We'll settle this with the battle of the bands," *** [Completed] Kylie Thompson had it all; she had the perfect family, a handsome boyfriend, good grades, and she was apart of one of the best marching bands in the state. Within a year, that all changed. Her parents filed for divorce, her boyfriend broke up with her, her grades began to slip, and her band director passed away from kidney failure. Now Kylie has to deal with four new issues; her parent's immature fights, avoiding her ex, improving her grades, and keeping the band from falling apart. All of this, and putting up with a guy in the rival band that is so cocky yet so cute. With these newfound troubles, will Kylie be able to keep her life from crumbling, or will a certain someone come along and sweep her off her feet?
