Leyr Belloumi, a sixteen-year-old orphan struggling in medieval Italy, is a mystery in the making. She's been indentured at a dressmaker's shop in Florence, but now, she's disappeared from the city.  

Contrary to popular gossip, the cynical teen hasn't stolen all the shop's money and fled. Instead, the girl has been recruited by the Italian military, forced to fight on pain of death. 

Leyr needs to find a way to escape before the fact that she's a girl is revealed, but does she really want to go back to her mundane life? 

"Knight" is an action-packed novel, scattered throughout with wisps of Italian culture. Blending medieval history with the unique view of an adolescent forges a book that both enhances and enraptures the mind.
